This week the challenge celebrates the spirit of gratitude and thanksgiving with a TriTangle of Trio, Huggins and Xyp.
The past 17 months have been a constant exercise of willpower for me to focus on being thankful for the good things in my life, whilst putting up with the distractions of the bad 😛 I am still unwell (it does seem to be endless!) but I do agree that I have a lot to be thankful for.
This is my first time trying out all three tangles, and I found Trio to be the most challenging.
After a failing at all my attempts, I was getting more and more frustrated just trying to follow the original step outs for Trio. Eventually I gave up and decided it couldn’t BE that difficult to pick up. I decided to then deconstruct the pattern myself and reproduce it to the best of my abilities. I ended up starting on the right instead of left and, basically, ‘flipped’ most of the steps. I don’t know if it ‘works’ visually, but it looks much better than all my failed attempts combined.
Once I was confident enough, I used an official tile to create part of my string on an old book page. After tangling, I trimmed it and mounted it onto a postcard blank.
Here we go.. (clicking on the images will take you to Flickr)
And just for fun (because I don’t really feel chatty)… Here are some other recent pieces before I sign off to go look at other entries 🙂
And my favourite… a second take on last week’s UMT Seton, on a postcard blank ^^
Your Trio looks lovely, just like the other patterns! Well done.

Your idea to deconstruct Trio and figure it out for yourself worked really well. I will try that for tangles I’m having trouble with. I think the work you did on the book pages and prayed to the card stock look very professional. Nice.

A beautiful Tile. Love your line weighting, and your Trio turned out great. Wonderful design. Drawing on the printed page is wonderful. I like all of the tiles in your post. You have a very creative artistic sense. Lovely work. Wishing you well, and hope you get feeling better soon.

Sometimes “official” step-outs don’t work for everyone. I have found several patterns that I choose to do my own way. There is nothing wrong with that, it’s actually a positive. I think you make the pattern your own that way and you often find a tangle that you didn’t like, now a favorite after you change up the way it is executed. Your tangles are lovely. Sending you positive thoughts for better health quickly. Hugs 🙂

These are ALL lovely! We each have our own expectations of what we want, but I LOVE what you have accomplished and working on the printed page is very inspiring. I would love if my work was half as beautiful! So sorry to hear of your struggles and hoping your life energy will soon be what you are wanting.

I’m so sorry to hear that you haven’t been feeling well, and I hope that you feel much improved soon. I know it can be difficult to feel gratitude when you have personal struggles. It sounds like you have a positive outlook and that with your gratitude is definitely something to be thankful for. Your tile (and ALL your art) is beautiful! I LOVED reading how you flipped the pattern to work it out. I did the same thing when I was first started trying it out. Your lines are lovely. Your art has a distinctive style! Beautiful! THX for participating!

Like the way that you set off Xyp with the black border. Also like the cascading Trio. Is a nice effect.
